Fiona E Craig Australasian Cytometry Society 41st Annual Conference

Fiona E Craig

Dr. Fiona Craig obtained her medical degree from St. Bartholowmew’s Hospital in London, England, and then moved to the US where she completed a Pathology Residency and Hematopathology training at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas. During her training she developed an interest in flow cytometry, and was essentially adopted by the clinical flow cytometry laboratory. After her training she stayed on at the Health Science Center in San Antonio as an Assistant Professor in Pathology, with a joint appointment at the Audie L. Murphy Veterans Administration Medical Center, and became medical director of the clinical flow cytometry laboratory. In 2001 Dr. Craig moved to the University of Pittsburgh, as Associate Professor in Pathology, and became medical director of the larger flow cytometry laboratory. Over this time she became actively involved in the International Clinical Cytometry Society (ICCS) and participated in flow cytometry teaching at a national level. She went on to establish the ICCS Education committee, and subsequently obtained funds from the Wallace H. Coulter Foundation to promote international education in flow cytometry through the Clinical Cytometry Education Network. She has served as ICCS Senior Counselor, Vice President, and President, and is currently in her second year as ICCS Past-President. In 2015 she moved to Mayo Clinic Arizona where she is a diagnostic Hematopathologist, Chair of the Division of Hematopathology, and Professor of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine.
